Gianluca Vadalà

Doctor Gianluca Vadalà has a degree in Medicine and Surgery (2003) and a Specialization diploma in Orthopaedics and Traumatology (2008) from Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome(UCBM). In 2005/2006 he enrolled in a research Fellowship in Spine Surgery and Sport Medicine from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and moved to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Pittsburgh (USA). In 2012 he finished his PhD in “Organ Plasticity Science and Tissue Regeneration for the Functional Recovery" at Campus Bio-Medico University (UCBM). He received the prestigious AOSpine Young Research Award (2013) for his enthusiastic research in spine surgery and regenerative medicine. He published over 32 papers in peer-reviewed journals and obtained several research grant from the Italian Government, Foundations and Scientific Societies. Currently he is an Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic and trauma surgeon at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome (UCBM). He is a member of the Research Group on Stem Cells (BIOSPINA), Italian Society of Surgery (SICV & GIS), European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS) and Italian Orthopaedic Research Society (IORS).
His major research interest is developing new biological therapies for intervertebral disc degeneration and osteoarthritis with a special focus on stem cell therapy, gene therapy and tissue engineering.
